What is the change from 100 to 120?
(New value − original value) ÷ original value × 100
(120 − 100) ÷ 100 × 100 = 20%
A positive result means an increase; a negative result means a decrease. The original value must be greater than zero.
Common questions
How do I find a price after a discount?
“Percentage of a number” gives you the discount amount. Subtract that amount from the original price to find the final price. For example, a 15% discount on 80,000 saves 12,000, giving a final price of 80,000 − 12,000 = 68,000, in the same currency.
Can I enter negative numbers or percentages above 100%?
Yes. This calculator accepts negative numbers and percentages above 100%. There are two restrictions: the whole in “What percent?” must not be zero, and the original value in “Percentage change” must be greater than zero.
How are decimal places and rounding handled?
Results are shown to 2 decimal places by default. You can choose 0, 2, 4, 6, or 10 decimal places.
